Spring Break

Newsletter – Thursday, April 1, 2010

A blizzard on New Year’s and a heat wave on Easter - I think Mother Nature must be taking a cue from the insurance market’s cycles (accelerated by 100X though). At least spring break for a lot of kids is happening when it really feels like spring. My daughter’s school is one of those that give their students a generous spring break in preparation for the home stretch of the school year. So with 2 weeks off and no plans for exotic trips, the four of us headed to Philadelphia last weekend for a history vacation. While Grace insists she does not like history, we all had fun visiting the Liberty Bell, Carpenters Hall, and Independence Hall. But, what I was most looking forward to was a stop off at Ye Olde Tavern that the Founding Fathers hung out in.

While I was in Philly, I had the opportunity to have dinner with my nephew Simon Hauger who is leading a team of Philadelphia high school students in the Progressive Automotive X Prize competition to build a 100 MPG, production-ready car. Simon is someone I talk about frequently because I admire his passion and drive as well as the incredible innovations he and his ‘Bad News Bears’ team of the automotive industry are making. Actually they are more like the ‘Goonies’, because I don’t even think they would be considered part of the automotive industry circle. One thing Simon is most passionate about is the fact that many innovations usually come from outside an industry – which inspires his team to go for the ‘gold’.

Our Professional Liability team is going for gold, too. Aided by the knowledge and expertise of Tim Hoelle, who joined our organization a little over a year ago, we have made a bold leap into the Professional Liability world and are determined to be a significant player in this market. Last week we announced the launch of our new professional liability division – TuscanoPro. The focus for TuscanoPro is exclusively professional liability classes – A&E, Allied Med, Financial Services, Insurance Agents, Lawyers, Real Estate, Social Services, Technology, as well as many Miscellaneous classes and Excess Professional Liability. We believe we can offer you an edge that will make a difference in your ability to successfully quote and win professional liability business by offering comprehensive coverage analysis and superior responsiveness.

You can find out more about TuscanoPro online at www.TuscanoPro.com. You will find detailed product information, contact information, and news about the industry. We are convinced that the same customer-centric focus, underwriting knowledge, and commitment to building the great relationships that you value in the Tuscano Agency will make you a fan of TuscanoPro.

Spring is busting out all over so think Green! Think of us for your outdoor events, green buildings, environmental contractors, organic products liability, green energy products – the list goes on and on. Tuscano is your BGB (Big Green Broker) – so give us a call.

Keep in mind that our office will be closed on Friday, April 2, 2010 for the Easter holiday weekend. We will be enjoying the time we get to spend with friends and family – you do the same.
