Hi. You may be wondering what happened to Rob, but I can assure you there is a simple answer. You see, Rob and I have always had a great relationship – you could even call it symbiotic. I can’t do what he does and he can’t do what I do - which makes us perfect partners. We are also pretty adept at covering for each other. Earlier this week we were at the annual NAPSLO meeting and I had an early morning appointment that I really did not want to keep. So, I offered Rob a swap – take my appointment and I’ll write your newsletter. I love it when things work out!
NAPSLO is 3 days of hard work. Appointments go on all day and we bounce from meeting to meeting with our carriers. Sometimes the meeting is about the marketplace (could it get any softer, can you believe how low the rates are?). Sometimes we exchange news, such as Bill Berkley’s announcement that the hard market will return in 2011 (like he knows something we don’t know?). Most meetings are substantial in that we walk away with at least a few action points or opportunities. New markets and programs are always of interest and we picked up a few of those too.
Most of our meetings focused on what our carriers can do for us. We are seeing many of them ease up on our submit requirements. That’s good news because it means Tuscano underwriters are free to underwrite and quote and that means faster turn-around for you. Many of the contractor classes, including roofing, are part of this expansion of authority. Another class we have expanded our writings with is home health care agencies with both professional and non-professional services. Tuscano loves writing all of your GL business - low, medium, or high hazard - call us and we’ll help you love it too.
Enough about insurance products though. Since I (finally) have the pen and get to write about what I hold dear, let’s talk about service and operations! We recently added web chat to our work comp underwriter’s desk. Before you put a submission together you can chat with the underwriter about what app to use, what carrier might be the best fit, and sometimes, whether you should even send it in. Mike Baca is happy to work with you and hates to spin your wheels – so click and chat and get ahead of the game.
We also love the fact that you can manage your own agency’s information online. The Admin area on our website provides admin users with the ability to update agency staff, address, primary contacts, and more. We are also looking for updated information from you about the states you are writing business in. Did you know that we are now writing admitted and non-admitted business in over a dozen states? If you have a risk with other state exposures we can often help. You can also opt out of emails, or opt in to electronic distribution of policies. We would love to set you up to receive your policies electronically and help you streamline your workflow. If you are ready to turn off the paper just give us a call. Finally, don’t you love our new e-news format? Stay current with all of the news, activities, and product information at Tuscano. There is always something going on!
Since I may not get another opportunity to say ‘hey’ for a while, thanks for your business and the confidence you place in Tuscano.
