Hello hot dog season! And grilling season, and fresh produce season, and of course, ice cream season!
What better way to kick off summer than to answer the call from my mother to come to her house and help open the pool. This is no ordinary pool though (as those of you who recall Summer Hummer picnics can attest). This pool is vintage poured concrete and is twice as big as most, which makes it the perfect gathering place for a family as big as ours.
Tuscano loves insuring summer fun or summer income for your clients. We have programs for chicken & rib shacks, campgrounds, wedding receptions, graduation parties, watercraft and watercraft rentals, sporting events and teams. And you know we are HUGE motorcycle enthusiasts. Anyone who has an 84 year-old father that still rides a BMW bike has to be – right? It runs in the family – Al will ride his motorcycle to his inspection appointments, I will hit the road on mine from time to time, and Jinny likes to ride the whole 2 miles to work on her Vespa scooter. Motorcycle insurance is part of the Tuscano DNA and no one is better at helping your insured get the best product, price, and service than we are.
I am particularly thankful for the wonderful Western PA weather we had all weekend. In light of the lousy spring weather, not to mention the devastation caused by the weather for so many Americans, I have begun to realize just how little separates us from tragedy every day. So have you ever asked yourself, “Why insurance?” "What are we doing in this business?" Honestly, I can say that I derive great satisfaction from knowing that the products and services we provide make a difference in people’s lives. I can guarantee you one thing – Flo never answered a policyholder’s call after a disaster, or got involved in a community that was hit by a tornado. As independent agents it is time to fight back when direct writers like Progressive (or the Wall Street Journal) call us middlemen who only make the cost of insurance products higher. I hope that someone takes the time to tell our story – of the billions of dollars of insured losses we will pay and the families, businesses, and communities we will help because we are in business to restore and rebuild.
We have had a recent change in staffing here at Tuscano that I would like to make you aware of. Robin Tuscano and Michelle Morton have taken over Workers Comp underwriting responsibilities. Mike Baca has left the agency to pursue other opportunities; however, we are excited to have two very capable underwriters bringing their talents to this product line. We are committed to writing monoline Workers Comp (not that we wouldn’t work multi-line accounts, too) and have been expanding our markets to be able to write more of this business for you.
I hope your Memorial Day was memorable and at some point in the day you took the time to remember those who serve our country and those who have honored it with their lives. Respect for our troops is shown by living out the values our country was built on – liberty, equality, democracy, freedom, and citizenship.
I would especially like to thank Jake Johnson, son of our Underwriting Vice President, Jeff Johnson for his service to our country. Jake is on his second tour of duty, currently serving in Afghanistan. Thanks Jake and all of the service men and women who put their lives on the line every day.
With Liberty and Justice for All,
