In my book, a life of privilege is one filled with wonderful friends. How I managed to be just so privileged still boggles my mind. About thirty years ago I forged a couple of life-long friendships with guys that were very similar to me – same age, same interests, and who were also ‘SOBs’ (sons of the boss). My friend Bruce was a CMU grad and came from New England. He once talked me into dropping him into the middle of the Dolly Sods in WV, as he was searching for ‘truth’. Bruce’s dad started a successful billboard advertising company and now Bruce has found, if not truth, then certainly meaning in life, still running the family business. Check out the Billboard from Bethlehem if you are interested in what Bruce is up to these days.
My other good buddy is Chuck, a local boy – actually a farm boy – who went to Penn State University College of Agricultural Sciences and graduated at the top of his class. Chuck’s grandfather started Turner Dairy and now Chuck is running his family’s business – along with several other family members – just like me. If it were possible for an industry to be more regulated and have smaller profit margins than insurance, it would have to be dairy production. Chuck has navigated his organization through the maze of government regulations, expanded the company’s market penetration, and successfully managed a third-generation transition. Even more impressive is the number of second-generation employees that work at Turner who are truly committed to the organization. No wonder Turner Dairy was recently named the Top Mid-Size Employer by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. When your employees vote you the Top Workplace in the region it says that you pay attention to all the right things. I’m proud (and privileged) to call Chuck my good friend.
I am also proud to share with you that the Tuscano Agency was also recognized as a Top Place to Work in the survey conducted by Workplace Dynamics and sponsored by the Post-Gazette. No doubt about it – the people at Tuscano and their approach to this business, personal standards, passion for service, and commitment to quality – all work together to make this organization stand out – much more than Jinny and I could ever accomplish alone.
While we may never see a submission for Turner Dairy’s insurance, we will often see pieces and parts of these kinds of accounts. It may be the pollution coverage for the plant, or the cargo coverage for the cream, or perhaps the umbrella coverage or a slice of it. There really is no limit to the kinds of risk Tuscano underwriters can help you with.
When you are looking for a broker to help you provide excellent coverage and service for your client’s needs, I urge you to give us a call. We are all defined by the company we keep (or so I tell my 16-year old daughter). I hope you feel that the business relationship you have with Tuscano is one that makes your organization outstanding.
It is a privilege,
