What Type of Competitor Are You?

Newsletter – Tuesday, January 17, 2012

What type of competitor are you? I remember as a kid playing kickball in the vacant lot behind our house.  Neighborhood kids, and there were a lot of us, self-organized into teams and even better, refereed ourselves too. There wasn’t much competition because the teams changed with every game.  And let’s face it, no one ever went to college on a kickball scholarship.  In junior high, I ran track and discovered I was pretty good at it. But, I can’t recall if I ran hard so I could beat the other runners or so I could feel good about my own accomplishments.  What I did learn was winning only comes if you are willing to push yourself to your limits.

In contrast to this, my sister Jinny was never surprised by her accomplishments.  Somehow she was born believing she could do anything she set her mind to. What’s funny is she has most of us believing it too. She competes with herself – always putting a new challenge out there just to see if she has what it takes.

Together we make a pretty good team - rallying our crew, challenging each other, and generally pushing our way to the goal with a lot of hard work, creative energy, and good fortune.  Tuscano people are competitive people.  They hate to lose – they work hard for every piece of business they write.  I love celebrating the wins but I am also pretty good at helping them overcome the disappointments.  As you well know, in this business we all occasionally have to pick ourselves up, brush off the dust, and keep our focus.

Not so long ago we launched TuscanoPro, to keep the challenge of writing your professional liability business in the spotlight.  I may have dropped the ball on this one because it has been some time since I’ve mentioned the fact that Tuscano has all of the expertise and markets to fully service your professional liability coverage needs. It is not enough to say we can write these products – we can write them professionally.  While we can write the miscellaneous service professionals - everything from dog trainers to graphic designers - our TuscanoPro team excels at medical professions, lawyers, and A&E risks.  Hard-to-place accounts are not a problem and we see a lot of start-up professionals looking for coverage as well. We have an entire website – www.TuscanoPro.com - devoted to writing professional liability because we love the challenge and know we can compete.

Send us a risk you need quoted today or something you haven’t found a home for yet – I think you will be pleased to work with our winning team.
