I have fond memories of cereal. Growing up in the Tuscano household we had limited cereal options – Shredded Wheat, Cheerios, and Rice Krispies, and occasionally, Captain Crunch. My mom only shopped once a month so that first week we felt like rich kids. I remember sitting at the kitchen table and using the cereal boxes to block my sister out – claiming the rights to read the backs of our chosen cereal box.
The other day I was shopping with my family when I found myself in the cereal aisle and was dismayed by how many types and brands of cereal there are now. I mean seriously, no matter what you call it, raisins and flakes are raisin bran. The boxes are smaller too – they never would have lasted in the Tuscano household for a month. I don’t think it is a matter of quality vs. quantity. Let's face it, no one is going to pay $7 for a box of cereal.
