I think I have the luck of the Irish. I have a great wife and kids, a great job, and incredible co-workers. I even have a lucky dog, Sid. Sid is our rescue dog who found his way to our home. Now he rides shotgun with my wife as she shuttles our two teenagers around to various activities. The only ‘problem’ with Sid is that he is a runner. If he were Irish, I’d say he was looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
We've been very lucky lately with the way things are going as Tuscano transforms ourselves from a Pennsylvania-centric wholesaler to a regional wholesaler, writing business in 17 states up and down the East Coast as well as into Texas and parts of the Midwest. Wow – that’s a lot of new states and a lot of new customers. It has been a long time since I did not immediately recognize the name of an agency when they called in, but I am making a whole lot of new friends.
We've also been adding new staff to make certain that we maintain the Tuscano CAN Do It service standards. We have added eleven new staff members in the past 12 months and most recently there are three new smiling faces in our Policy Service department: Chelsea, Paula, and Jodi. I mention this by way of explaining how committed we are to providing you with great service. In our office, that starts with routing of your emails and faxes. Back in the olden days, we had a fileroom. Now, because we are a paperless office, we don’t pull files - instead we image your correspondence and submissions into our management system.
More customers equal more new business and more activity. So if I may, I have a favor to ask you. We are receiving over 2000 business emails and faxes on a daily basis. As you can imagine, there is a wide variety to the format these items come to us in; but without a name, policy number, or quote number, it is highly unlikely we’ll get your memo attached to the right file and that delays getting it to the right person. I am sure you learned this in Insurance 101; please make sure you reference the applicant’s full name or policyholder’s name along with the policy number (or if you have it, a quote number) in the subject line or on the cover page so we can route your mail quickly and provide you great service.
One Irish saying goes, “You can always tell an Irishman, but you can’t tell him much.” In this regard – don’t be Irish!
With the housing market continuing to report more sales and new construction starts, this should bode well for our industry too. Tuscano is your go-to broker for contractors - We LOVE to write the artisan/craftsman, industrial, or general contractor risk. We have plenty of markets that will look at this business and we pride ourselves on seeking out the best coverage terms for your client.
Have a Happy St. Pat’s Day and remember:
Have a sense of humor,
The saving grace to see a joke,
To win some happiness from life,
And pass it on to other folk.
