Choices

Teri and I have decided we would like to go back to college.  In the last year we have visited upwards of 15 different schools (some twice) as we follow our oldest child around the state while she decides on her college of choice.  Ultimately, it comes down to which school is Grace the choice of?  And for mom and dad, since we don’t get to go to college, only pay for it, which school will help her be that most awesomely amazing young woman she is destined to be?
Picking a college and buying insurance can be similar experiences. In fact, I was reminded of that when I went to visit the ‘top choice’ school that also came in with the highest price tag. While the other schools gave Grace a whole mess of scholarship money, of course the one she really wants did not. So like the true free-market capitalist that I am, I had a ‘talk’ with the financial aid folks at university numero uno and basically said “If all these others schools can give me a discount, why can’t you?”  I guess college funding, like Insurance, is all about who is applying the biggest credit.
And wouldn’t insurance be fun if we all had this giant pot of money we could use to discount premiums and keep our clients happy? Placing business with Tuscano is just about the next best thing (right after getting to go to the college of your choice). We may not be Ivy League, but we are Major League. At Tuscano we have major markets to write the brokerage business you see most – contractors, vacant property, habitational risks, professional lines, dwelling business, motorsports, restaurants, and more. Yes – we are a full-service wholesaler specializing in the products that independent agents like you see most.  And if you’d rather not chase business all over the state or the country, then you should call Tuscano first and we’ll give you our best quote.
Lucky for me, my second child is not as goal-oriented (yet). They say boys develop slower than girls, so I have some time. It may just turn out that Sam chooses a trade, and I’d  be OK with that. There are a ton of contractor classes and Tuscano likes them all! There are a lot of reasons why a contracting risk may end up in the E&S market: difficult classes such as demolition or roofing; risks that need special forms or wording for a certificate; account that failed to pay on time, or is just starting out. Our underwriting teams will be more than happy to help you out, but don’t be like me and expect a credit on every account. What you should be able to count on is a great experience and a team of folks committed to making you an awesomely great insurance agent.
Another Tax Day has come and gone. Me – I am happy to pay my fair share – if I don’t, university numero uno will get it anyway.
Finally I’d like to send our thoughts and prayers to the people of Boston and the friends, family, and community of athletes that embodies the spirit of Patriot’s Day.
