Look out summer here we come. Tuscano had a great kick-off to the season when we hosted our first (annual?) ‘Biker Bill Rides Again’ motorcycle rally on May 18th. Yes, Bill Tuscano came out to ride with a group of about 20 agents, friends and Tuscano staff. Thankfully it was a small group – we made only one wrong turn and lost (temporarily) only 2 riders! We mapped a great ride, 130 miles through the Laurel Highlands with a stop at the Flight 93 Memorial and nice lunch at a local watering hole. I especially appreciated the chance to swap stories about other memorable rides we’ve done as we picked the bugs out of our teeth.
It is not unusual to see 20 motorcycles running through the hills of Western PA, but when they are led by an 85 year-old motorcycle rider, that does make it special. And while it is true that motorcycle insurance is more easily obtainable nowadays, putting this business with Tuscano is almost certainly a great solution for your customer. Things are picking up in Professional Lines with a lot of new opportunities supported by great markets to place your business with. We are seeing a good number of opportunities to place D&O for small-town Chambers of Commerce lately. They tell me that many of the chamber policies have been increasing dramatically - we have a couple of carriers that are very competitive in this class. Another area Tuscano has expertise is with A&E coverage, including the larger and more complicated accounts. We have several markets to work with and we are seeing success especially when we have the opportunity to put together a broad coverage package rather than compete for bottom line price. Don’t overlook the fact that Tuscano has excellent competitive markets for Miscellaneous Specified Professions and Technology Professionals. It is always a good time of year to quote your habitational business! This is definitely a class that takes the brunt of the market’s cycles. Recently a large national carrier began non-renewing a significant portion of their habitational business and Tuscano is more than happy to help you replace this. We recognize this is not bad business, but in one of those crazy market swings it became truly underpriced.
