Regis Insurance Company announced on September 13, 2013 that they were ceasing to write business as of December 1, 2013.  On October 8, 2013 A. M. Best announced that they were downgrading the financial strength rating of Regis to C+.  A. M. Best has withdrawn the ratings, as Regis has requested to no longer participate in the interactive rating process.  A copy of the Best press release is available on their website. It should be noted that Regis and A. M. Best are currently involved in a lawsuit.

Tuscano Agency recognizes that you may have provisions within your E&O policy, or internal agency protocols that preclude you from doing business with insurers not meeting certain Best rating criteria.  We have arranged for another of our carriers to provide mid-term quotes on nearly all of Regis’ policies. Additionally, Regis has agreed to not enforce any short term cancellation penalties.

The PA Insurance Department has indicated that they are satisfied with Regis’ current financial position and will continue to monitor the situation going forward.
