I believe we have reached a new milestone in my family. Teri and I successfully left our teenage son and college-aged daughter home while we travelled for business this past weekend. I know some of you are filled with horror at the thought – but don’t worry, my mother-in-law also lives on our property and they wouldn’t get away with what you are thinking. Actually, it was pretty weird because after this experience, both Teri and I felt expendable.
We are at the stage where it is a constant struggle with Sam to motivate him about school and to be honest, I think he is winning. Since Grace is still home for Christmas break, we decided it would be OK to leave them home with Grace in charge. During one daily check-in, we found that Grace and Sam were knee-deep in Sam’s book report assignment due the following day (of course). Amazingly, we arrived home to a great grade on the assignment and a clean home. The bonus though was that we had a daughter who actually admitted that Teri’s job was a lot harder than it looked!
I am pretty lucky because I have this same gig going on at the office. I can go away knowing that my management team and staff are minding the shop, though I don’t stay away too long or they’ll think my job isn’t that hard!
When I come back from a business trip, I like to channel Dorothy with, “There is no place like home!” As insurance professionals, protecting homes and assets are fundamental to our roles. For some clients it is a slam-dunk to insure them in your standard homeowner markets, and rightfully so. On the other hand, Tuscano is available when you have a client just outside the circle that needs and wants protection for their assets but has something in their history or profile that makes them more difficult to insure. Tuscano has a variety of options in our Personal Lines Department to insure an owner-occupied or tenant-occupied home. We can also help you in our Commercial Department with vacant homes (call the Small Business Unit) or large schedules of dwellings (call the Commercial Property Team). Give us a call for any of your habitational accounts and we’ll get to work on your assignment!
Good News! At long last we have a market that is specializing in writing workers comp for truckers. We are only able to offer this market on Pennsylvania risks (with some restrictions) at this time, but we are hoping to have expanded authority soon (and you can be sure we will let you know). You may think this is a pretty small class to warrant such excitement, but if you have ever attempted to write these classes (0808, 0809, 0811, 0812, 0813) you know there is a big need. We think we’ll be able to look at some nice size accounts, though their niche is writing the smaller operations with minimum premiums as low as $2500. Even if all you need at the moment is monoline workers comp coverage, give the Tuscano Transportation Team a call.
